Hazelhurst Season Pass Information
Dear Member,
This letter is intended to clarify and inform you of who needs to purchase a Hazelhurst Season
Pass, to notify you of the current 2012 season pass fee and the formula for figuring the fee adopted
by the Prairie Club Board.
In summary, according to Hazelhurst Camp rules and policy, any Prairie Club member who is not a
siteholder or his/her guest, or a renter, and who uses any of the Hazelhurst grounds, such as the
beach, play area or junior clubhouse, library, tennis court or barn more than once a month during
June, July or August, is required to purchase a season pass. If you store any beach equipment or a
boat on Hazelhurst property you are required to purchase a season pass. This policy is primarily
geared toward Club members who live near Hazelhurst Camp and wish to use the grounds
regularly.
Although siteholders will pay the majority of the costs for operating Hazelhurst Camp, the Prairie
Club Board of Directors believes that those who use Hazelhurst regularly should contribute more
equitably to these expenses. To help the Prairie Club Board of Directors determine a fee, the Board
established a Season Pass Committee comprised of off-site members and siteholders.
The Season Pass Committee compiled a formula to establish a more equitable fee system for
determining the cost of a pass each year. The formula takes into consideration the costs of
operating and maintaining the common property attributing disposal service expenses and common
area taxes to the siteholders.
The formula is: (A+B-C) / (D+E+F)
A = Previous year actual expenses (excluding common ground tax)
B = Fixed improvements from previous year;
C = Garbage expense from previous year (siteholder expense)
D = Number of siteholders
E = Number of Prairie Club sites
F = Number of season pass holders;
The season pass holder fee for 2012 is: $644.41
The fee will be computed yearly and the season pass fee raised or lowered as the formula dictates.
The Season Pass Committee is aware that, while some siteholders would like a more equitable
sharing of Hazelhurst expenses, some season pass holders would like to feel more a part of the
Hazelhurst activities and community. The committee is hopeful that these additional changes will
enhance Hazelhurst Camp.
1) Prairie Club By-Laws will need to change to allow season pass holders to have representation on
the Camp Council.
2) The season pass holders will receive up-dated information on rules, regulations, policies and
communication about Hazelhurst Camp.
3) To help all season pass holders be more a part of the Hazelhurst community and to help defray
operating costs, season pass holders must contribute 5 volunteer service hours per household as
currently provided by siteholders or pay the $100.00 fee in lieu of service hours.
Please note: The Season Pass is not transferable to those who might occupy your house in your
absence.
